Eidde,
What went wrong was the director decided to cast himself in the lead role. Unfortunately he can't act... well not in this short anyway. It took almost a year between principal photography and final cut and only did a few minor festivals. What disappointed me most was that the original script wasn't kept to. I appreciate there is going to be some changes, but now it just doesnt make sense. Don't get me wrong he is a top comedian... maybe I was too quick in my selection of director/producer.
Lessons learned.
Roll on "The Wrong Don", my feature.

Thanks for anwsering.
OK fair enough. Although as a third party I felt his acting was OK, although hers wasnt so good.
True the story was a little confusing at the end, I assumed this was intentional, and meant to be open to interpretation (but then Im pretty generous when it comes to that kind of thing.)
There is no resolution in this film as it stands, but it sort of worked for me. I guess youre ending was different.
A small festival release is probably pretty disapointing.
Did you get paid?
Heard advice once (from Stephen King of all people) that if you sell a story to the movies, just make sure you get paid. Dont hold *any* expectations at all. Although obviously as a script writer this is harder to follow.
Hope you got paid.
Cheers, good luck with the next one.

I didn't get paid per se, However, I did have numerous flights provided for me to and from USA and the experience was overwhelming. I was involved in most pre-production aspects but unfortunately on my return to Blighty the lead actor was dropped and replaced by the director himself. II have to admit that I am my greatest critic and things have develpoed since then that would allow a more film-look to be applied to some of the far too light shots. But alas I am a writer, and it showcases me as a writer. The ending was supposed to be that the protagonist dies from all the ways that he had previously tried to kill himself, and despite killing his wife becoming his escape -- death caught up with him too.
The whole falling in the bath scene was never meant to be there.
I'll start a new post regarding advice I need on my feature screenplay.
